Loopcloud PLAY is a clever and concise, ever-growing collection of curated instruments packed into a simple to use interface. Offering a basic and advanced view this plugin is aimed more at instant gratfication than it is extensive sound design. What really stands out about PLAY to me is the direct access to the store. When you’re ready to expand your library of presets, this can be done in an instant without having to leave your DAW. You can access Loopmasters & Loopcloud’s extensive library of PLAY presets, preview them, purchase them with Loopcloud points, and download them and start using them straight away… All within the Loopcloud PLAY plugin. No more distractions or getting sidetracked.

Loopmasters and Loopcloud have finally released PLAY as it’s own plugin. Before, it was only part of a Loopcloud subscription. However, I would highly recommend you get the full subscription giving you access to Loopcloud, DRUM & PLAY plus full catalogue access and points to spend. More about Loopcloud here!

There’s a good 290 presets that come with PLAY and they alone will offer a ton of inspiration. Split into different catagories like basses, keys, pads, etc. One thing I really like about PLAY is there is no end of great sounds to be discovered. Unlike a lot of other plugins, this one doesn’t favour a certain type of instrument. Often synths suit bass sounds better than leads, or vice versa. This wasn’t the case with PLAY.

Whether I want a deep housey bass or a cutting dubstep reece. A floaty pad or attention grabbing lead; there’s going to be a great preset for it. This I can then customise further with envelopes, a selection of 14 differnt filters, some great sounding effects, and some cool sampling controls like time stretching and lofi.

PLAY sounds incredible right out of the box, but that doesn’t mean the creativity stops there. Diving into the details of each instrument is made easy with PLAY’s clear and powerful synth engine. Each sample can be given extra colour by using the Time Stretch, Lo-fi, and Tilt parameters. 12 more filter types add character and movement. The delays, reverbs, chorus, and multiple distortions add grit, shimmer, and depth to any sound. The four performance controls can then be assigned to the parameters you like the most.
