John Driver Malpass, illustrator for Producer Life (UK)

John illustrates the artwork and hands it over to Luke, who then digitalizes and colours the final piece. This collaboration creates the colourful and funky world of Producer Life.

John was always obsessed with drawing strange cartoons and characters as a kid. He had a healthy love for sci-fi and horror art, transitioning into more graffiti style comic book art. Finding the stories and pictures is a necessary escape from reality. Enabling John to develop a style drastically different to his peers in the scene.

John has been producing art consistently for a number of years. Whether it’s art on spray cans, canvases, cards or paper. His work has also been exhibited at Gallery 5 in Derby and he was invited to show some ink work at a gallery in Wakefield after a lead artist from Team 17 digital saw his work.

Disliking the generic nature of much mass-produced art. John is heavily influenced by a close circle of friends around him. Glass artists, graphic designers, illustrators, writers and musicians, each with a unique style of their own. All challenging him to keep learning, developing and producing his work.

He often finds himself looking at everyday objects and interpreting the lines and angles in his head into something very much different. Finding peace in his craft, John can almost constantly be found drawing or developing his ideas. Helping him to rein in and slow his manic thoughts. This often leads to lengthy sessions, late nights and hands covered in paint and ink.
